Pawhuska’s Hayden Javellas played a major role for the Huskies in last week’s 19-16 district triumph at Commerce. The senior wide receiver-cornerback returned a kickoff for a 90-yard touchdown, caught a 37-yard TD pass and made more than a dozen tackles, including a few that probably prevented scores by the Tigers. And, that wasn’t all he did. PHS head coach Bob Craig called the victory “a tremendous team effort that everyone can be proud of.” On Friday, the Huskies are to play another District 2A-8 opponent, the Oklahoma Union Cougars. The former longtime football coach/athletic director at Pawhuska High School, Duke Atterberry (at right), makes a special guest appearance with the Huskies during the second day of summer SPA conditioning drills Tuesday at Ormand Beach Memorial Stadium. The PHS sessions will continue two and three times a week through July 22, when the Huskie squad will hold its second Night of Champions under current head coach, Bob Craig. The public is invited to the stadium event, which will begin at 6 p.m.
