Huskie hoopsters tuning up for anticipated season opener

Competitive cowboys and cowgirls came from throughout Oklahoma and Kansas for the 2015 Junior Ranch Rodeo Association Finals at the Osage County Fairgrounds. This year’s winners were determined during Saturday’s JRRA Finals Rodeo at Clarence Brantley Indoor Arena and event champions were recognized at an awards banquet that evening. A winning smile As PHS softball pitcher Breanna Redeagle gathered up bats following the recent Alumni Game, it was fairly obvious from her demeanor that all was going well for the varsity squad. That momentum carried through to last week’s season opener as Redeagle and the Lady Huskies topped Newkirk, 7-4. The Pawhuska girls are off to a good start for new head coach Brian Edwards. Shelby Bute, the daughter of Jeff and Terri Bute of Pawhuska, represents Team Oklahoma in the Pole Bending at this year’s AQHYA Built Ford Tough World Championship show held in Oklahoma City. This year marks Shelby’s first year to qualify for this prestigious event on her American Quarter Horse, Pocos Ultra Man AKA “Okie.” Shelby qualified for this event by attending and placing in numerous AQHA sanctioned shows held throughout Oklahoma. Shelby is an eighth grader at Pawhuska High School. She is active in basketball, 4-H, rodeo, and the First Baptist Church Youth group.
