Defensive lapses send Lady Huskies on skid

A familiar bug-a-boo continued to afflict the Pawhuska Lady Huskies softball team in Monday’s 6-3 home loss to the Caney Valley Lady Trojans.

A winning smile As PHS softball pitcher Breanna Redeagle gathered up bats following the recent Alumni Game, it was fairly obvious from her demeanor that all was going well for the varsity squad. That momentum carried through to last week’s season opener as Redeagle and the Lady Huskies topped Newkirk, 7-4. The Pawhuska girls are off to a good start for new head coach Brian Edwards. Shelby Bute, the daughter of Jeff and Terri Bute of Pawhuska, represents Team Oklahoma in the Pole Bending at this year’s AQHYA Built Ford Tough World Championship show held in Oklahoma City. This year marks Shelby’s first year to qualify for this prestigious event on her American Quarter Horse, Pocos Ultra Man AKA “Okie.” Shelby qualified for this event by attending and placing in numerous AQHA sanctioned shows held throughout Oklahoma. Shelby is an eighth grader at Pawhuska High School. She is active in basketball, 4-H, rodeo, and the First Baptist Church Youth group.
