Construction is progressing on a new Wynona Assembly of God Church building. The structure will replace the former church buidling that was destroyed by fire on Nov. 30, 2013. Arson was suspected in the blaze, which may have been set in an attempt to cover up a burglary that netted a guitar and amplifier. Church members had continued to hold services by moving them to an adjacent gymnasium. Jack Buzbee/J-C Correspondent

Work is progressing on a Blacksmith’s Shop being constructed behind the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce, which is housed in a historic native-stone structure known as the Blacksmith’s House. Chamber officials have been discussing the project for several years. When completed (probably sometime next month), the building will provide some much-needed storage space for the Chamber. It will also be used for blacksmithing demonstrations — related to the Chamber office’s original use as a residence of the blacksmith for the Osages after the tribe re-located here from their Diminished Reserve in Kansas.
