Theresa Kelly

Theresa Marie Kelly left this earth on June 17, 2014, following a long battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born on April 22, 1971, in Wichita, Kan., to Regina Kay Hendren. A few months later, the family moved to Pawhuska. Theresa attended Pawhuska Schools, graduating with the Class of 1990. Two weeks later, she married Timothy Eugene Weathers in Fairfax. To this union were born two beautiful children, Amanda Dawn and Tyler Lee. These children were her world and are what gave her the strength to fight the battle with ovarian cancer. This battle lasted 19 years. Theresa also accepted Christopher, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Madison, Fredricka and Phillip Miller as her own, along with Sarah Choate, a foster daughter. She was affectionately known by all of the kids’ friends as “Momma T.”

Theresa’s love of children carried over into her work when she started working for U-CAP as a teacher of Head Start children. She returned to college to obtain her CDA. It was a short time later that Dr. David Miller diagnosed her with Stage 5 ovarian cancer and together, they were a force to be reckoned with, as neither was willing to give up, even though they didn’t see her making it more than three months.

Theresa was preceded in death by her mother, as well as her grandmother Donna, grandfather Ike, aunt Kat, cousin David Ray, and stepson Christopher Miller.

Survivors include her children, Amanda and Chaz Bickford, and Tyler Weathers; grandchildren, Kameryn Bickford, Julianna Brown, Landon Bickford, Cade Miller, Catherine Miller Karlee Miller and Niko Choate; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Melissa Hendren, and Stephen Joe and Jennifer (Oberley) Hendren; her nieces and nephews, Hope, Kevin, Donna Kay, Chloe Radley, Jessica, Jarod, Allie, Fletcher and JoeJoe; uncles and aunts, Craig, Marty and Tara, Bruce and Sharon Hendren, all of Pawhuska, Mike and Barbara Hendren of El Reno, Okla., Debbie and David Simpson, Stephanie and Kenny Millard, and Monica and Deano Wadsworth; and numerous cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held June 20 at the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska with the Rev. Jeff Laughlin officiating. Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.

McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
