Ruth A. (Edgar) Andrews

Ruth A. (Edgar) Andrews, 99, died at 5:10 a.m.. on Sunday June 9, 2013 at the Forrest Manor Nursing Center in Dewey, Okla.

Services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mrs. Andrews was born on May 25, 1914 near Pawhuska in Osage County to Luther M. and Lena Mae (Dawson) Gibson.

She was raised and received her education in the Pawhuska area graduating from Pawhuska High School. She was married to Virgil Edgar, and later to Mr. Joseph “Joe” Andrews, and both preceded her in death. She was employed as a secretary in the Phillips Engineering Department for over 15 years, retiring in 1974.

She made her home in the Pawhuska area for most of her adult life until moving to Bartlesville in the 1970’s with her husband Joe Andrews. She was a member of the First United Methodist church in Pawhuska.

Mrs. Andrews is survived by her son Robert A. “Bob” Edgar and his wife Jannine; and by three grandchildren, Leslie Elaine Savage of Bartlesville, Okla., Robert “Bobby” Edgar and his wife Penney of Tulsa; and Katie Solloway and her husband Jon of Norman, Okla.; by two sisters, Mrs. Goldie Mae Crume of Bartlesville, and Mrs. Gladys Scott of Tulsa; by four great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her two husbands she was preceded in death by her parents; by a son, Charles Edgar. in 1969; by five brothers, Louis, Cecil, Carl, Howard and Roy Allen Gibson; by a sister. Florence Malaske; and her granddaughter, Chere Griffin.
