Lyonel Richard “Abe” Tannahill passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013, at his home in Pawhuska. He was 82 years old.
Abe was born April 27, 1931 in Pawhuska, the son of William Sylvester and Jessie Marie (Dorsey) Tannahill. On March 18, 1953, he married the former Patricia Johnson in Pawhuska.
A U.S. veteran, Abe served in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, retiring as a sergeant. He worked as a mechanical aerodynamic engineer, designing fighter jets, then as a flying quality engineer following his retirement from the Marines. Abe was also a member of the Oklahoma Sheriff’s Association.
Surviving are his wife Patricia Tannahill of the home; his son Charles Michael “Mike” Tannahill; two daughters, Karen Ann Tannahill of Florida, Audrey Faye Fleming and husband, Jim, of Buffalo, New York; a sister-in-law, Jane Halley, of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters and two great grandchildren.
No funeral services are planned.
