Longtime Pawhuska resident Larry Oran Carpenter, 64, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his home.
Larry was born May 13, 1950, in Woodward, Okla., the son of Orvan and Vera Mae (Barnett) Carpenter. On Jan. 19, 1986, he married the former Pamela D. Wynne in Cedarvale, Kan. Larry loved being a cowboy and ranching for a living. He was a member of the Osage County Cattlemen’s Association, Blackland Rural Fire Department and the Ranch Rodeo Committee. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and roping. Most of all, he loved hanging out with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Carpenter; his children, Shelly Hurd and husband, JB, and Niki Grauberger and husband, Harvey; his siblings, Gary Carpenter, Harry Carpenter and wife, Janice, Danny Carpenter and Tawnda Hopper, Ladeana Snider and husband, Steve, Sonny Carpenter and wife, Robin; his mother, Vera Mae Carpenter; and his three grandkids, Hunter and Dalton Hurd, and Kyra Grauberger.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Orvan Carpenter; sister-in-law, Sandy Carpenter; and a sister, Darla Carpenter.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 2, at the First Baptist Church of Pawhuska with the Rev. James Hager officiating. Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.
