Kelly Gene Wade passed away at the age of 48 in his home in Tulsa on July 23, 2014, after an extended illness.
He was born to T. S. “Turk” Wade and Betty Currey Wade on March 18, 1966, in Pawhuska, Okla.
Kelly played basketball and baseball during his school years. He was also in the Babe Ruth League during his younger school years where he was coached by his father for several years. He was a graduate of Cleveland High School in 1984. He went to Independence Junior College and NWOSU in Alva, Okla., furthering his education and playing basketball. His basketball career was cut short due to knee and back injuries.
Kelly was a die-hard OU fan and had many friends connected to OU sports. He never missed a game, and his home was a collage of OU memorabilia. The Oklahoma City Thunder was also another one of his favorite teams to follow.
He is survived by his mother, Betty Wade; his three sons, Robert K., Blake and Michael Wade; and two grandchildren, Brycen and Khloe. Also surviving are his four sisters, Carolyn Quillin and husband, Carl; Marilyn Dorsey; Terry Lopez and husband, Elias; Christy Moody and husband, Julian, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, T. S. Wade, and brother-in-law, Charles Dorsey.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Pawhuska First United Methodist Church. Rev. Kathy Morris will officiate.
