John Alvin Cannon, 83, died May 20, 2014, at his home in Pawhuska.
John was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Hamilton, Kan., the son of James A. and Ruth A. (Wiggins) Cannon.
On May 20, 1950, he married the former Aletha Smith in Kansas City, Kan.
John was retired from Phillips Petroleum, where he worked as a mechanics supervisor. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was a member of the Shidler Masonic Lodge No. 509.
Survivors include: His wife, Aletha Cannon, of the home; son, Steve Cannon and wife, Wanda, of Farmington, N.M.; grandchildren, Cody Robinson of Ponca City, Carrie McMurtrie and husband, Justin, of Ponca City, Robin Cannon-Clelland of Farmington, N.M., and Johnna Paige of Big Spring, Texas; great-grandchildren, Jon, Brennen, Leshay, Reagan, Blaine, Baylee, Cash, Payton, Rylee, Caden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Cannon; sister, Wilma Thompson and husband, Jack; and daughter, Marsha Kay Robinson.
Graveside services were held May 22 at the Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City with the Rev. Doug Scott officiating.
