Mr. Harold Ray Rowton

Harold Ray Rowton, 68, of Okesa died at 2:43 a.m. Thursday, May 30, in Bartlesville, Okla.

Funeral Services for were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Anderson of the Word of Truth Fellowship Church officiating. Interment was at the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Rowton was born to Bob and Linnie (Stemmer) Rowton on Sept. 26, 1944 in Bartlesville. He was the youngest of six children.

He left home at age 18 to work in the Saudi Arabian oil fields with his older brother Tom. He was a small town Oklahoma farm boy, whose mother made his shirts out of the beautiful printed flour sacks she picked out at the grocery store. He traveled the world with Tom working, and returned to Bartlesville to marry and start a family. Ray was a witty and funny man.

Rowton is survived by his son David Scott Rowton and his wife Lashel of Alvin, Texas; by a daughter Rae Lyn Hightower and her husband Jeff Sjoberg of Cromwell, Okla.; and by his fiancé Christine Marcotte of Bartlesville; by six grandchildren, Rebecca Lane “Tadpole” Hightower, Brock ”John B. Brock,” Bo “Bronco Billy,” Kendall “Papoosie,” Koby “Mr. R,” and Krista “Sparkles”: by three brothers, Jim Rowton and Russell Rowton, both of Oklahoma City, and Robert Rowton of Ft. Smith, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Linnie Rowton; by a sister, Carolyn Allen; and a brother, Tom Rowton.
