Everett Eugene “Gene” Hooper, 83, died on July 1, 2014.
He was born Nov. 17, 1930, in Barnsdall to Joseph Ernest Hooper and Leona Emma Murphy-Hooper. Gene was the youngest brother to Albert, Virginia, Oma Lee (of Whidbey Island, Wash.) and Billy, ½ siblings Basil, Olga, Edna, John and Paul.
He is survived by his five children, Jeanne, Robin, Kyle, Christy and Marilyn; grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Amber, Kaycie, Erin, Tyler, Holly, Karly, Cody, Callie; and step grandchildren from his late wife Marylyn Rowe-Hooper, Hallie, Elise, Casey and Eddy; and nine great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gene graduated from Pawhuska High School. He was a hardworking man that spent a short time as a Marine. He was an owner of a Heating and Air Conditioning business in Tulsa and was a Custom Home Builder. He was fortunate to travel around the world throughout his career. He and his second wife Marylyn traveled North America for 10+ years in their motor home. He spent his last 10 years doing what he loved and that was building a house and sharing his knowledge of all aspects of building to anyone who desired to learn. His days were also spent with his loving and loyal Tommy dog.
Graveside service will be 9 a.m. July 11 at Ridge Lawn Cemetery in Collinsville, officiated by Mother Andrea. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to America Diabetes Association.
