Evelyn Regina OnHand Pitts, 95, of Bartlesville, died at 8:27 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Journey Home in Bartlesville.

Traditional Indian rites will be held at the Wakon Iron Indian Center in Pawhuska beginning Monday evening. A Wake was to be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday and the Osage rituals were t0 be held at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Wakon Iron Center.

The Funeral Mass was to be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska with interment to follow in the Pawhuska City Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mrs. Pitts was born at Yonkers, Okla. on May 9, 1918 the daughter of Ralph and Polly (Roach) OnHand. She grew up and received her education at an Indian boarding school in Pawhuska. She was a cook for over 30 years for the In-lon-schka Indian Dances in Hominy as well as any other events and functions. She belonged to the Hominy War Mothers. She was married to Junior Simms and later married to William Pitts for 50 years. They made their home in Tulsa until his death in 1992 and she came to Bartlesville to make her home.

Mrs. Pitts is survived by a son, Mark Simms and wife Linda of Bartlesville; a daughter, Jacqulene Kemohah of Bartlesville; two granddaughters, Erica Kemohah and Andrea Kemohah; and three great grandchildren, Kayden Beavor, Ava Lewis and Layla Roach.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ralph OnHand Jr.; and a daughter, Mary Simms.
