Carl Frederick Taylor

Carl Frederick Taylor died June 19, 2014, at his home in Wynona.

Carl was born April 30, 1949, in La Junta, Colo., to Dorothy Irene Fulton Taylor and Don Frederick Taylor. The family later moved to Osage County in 1954. Carl attended schools in Shidler and Pawhuska.

Carl entered the Army in 1966-1968, serving time in Germany. Returning to the Osage County area, he went to work for the Mullendore Ranch. He later worked for the Drummond Ranches. Carl was the John Wayne of cowboys. He loved his country life of working and riding.

Carl and the former Nelda Collins were married Oct. 11, 1984, in which they combined two families. Carl loved his new family and considered them his own.

Preceding him in death were his father and mother, and one sister, Jane Wilkerson.

Survivors include his wife, Nelda of the home; sons, Justin and Ashley Taylor of Wynona, Jay and Marilyn Taylor of Wynona, Rick and Janice Loggins of Barnsdall; daughter, Vicki and Paul Tarwater of Barnsdall; sister, Donna Briggs of Choctaw; stepmother, Marilyn Taylor of Wynona; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held June 25 at the Free Will Baptist Church, Barnsdall, with the Rev. Rick Loggins officiating. Interment was in the Ethel Reese Cemetery, Barnsdall. Graveside military honors were provided by the American Legion and VFW.

McCartney’s Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
