One month of 2014 is already behind us!

A small change to the calendar - there WILL be school on Friday, Feb. 14. There will be no school on Monday, March 31. On Monday, Feb. 3, at 5:30 p.m., at the Elk’s Lodge in Pawhuska, the group that is going to Washington D.C. this summer, will be serving a Baked Potato Dinner.

The Elk’s Lodge is donating the food and the students are serving. The cost for the meal is only $5. Please make it a Baked Potato night if you possibly can!

This trip is not affiliated with the school at all, but the trip will be a great opportunity for several students and adults to see things that will be very educational to them.

This group is also selling carnations and candy/pop for Valentine’s Day. Please turn in orders by Friday, Feb. 7.

There will be a Valentine’s Dance sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization, on Friday, Feb. 7, from 6-8 p.m. Admission is $2 per person.

There will be a concession and a photographer to take pictures and photo packages will be available. Dress must be school appropriate as stated in the handbook. All students must leave with an adult!

Parent conferences will be Feb. 11, and 13, from 4 - 7 p.m. Please make an appointment to meet your child’s teachers. You may either talk to the teacher or call the office to set up a time.

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 6 - 7 p.m., Melody Aufill, with the Oklahoma State Department of Education Reach Team, will be presenting the new laws on reading tests and how they will affect 3rd grade students.

Parents of students in PreK - 3rd grade might want to try to attend. The meeting will be held in the old gym.

Our next PTO meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 27, at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

THANKS ESCAPE MINISTRIES

Wynonans offer many thanks to the ESCAPE Ministries from Cleveland. They donate food to the town of Wynona and have given us lots of bananas the past couple of weeks. Everyone gets a share that wants it and everyone appreciated the ESCAPE Ministries for thinking of us.

CONDOLENCES

Wynonans offer their condolences to the many family members and friends of Marian Hines, longtime Wynonan, who passed away last week. We are so sorry for your loss.

Wynonans also offer their condolences to another Wynonan, John Plumleigh, who passed away recently. Everyone knew and enjoyed John’s company. He will be missed!

VETERAN REPRESENTATIVE AT WYNONA TOWN HALL

Just a reminder that Lee Webb, is still coming to the Town Hall on Fridays from 11:30 until 12:30 to help Veterans with their benefits. This is a great opportunity for veterans and should be utilized by all that are qualified. Veterans are reminded that they can use their tax exempt card from the state to exempt taxes on their phone bills. Just contact your telephone provider for more details. The OK Department of Veterans Affairs representative will not be coming to Osage County anymore, but Lee Webb will be still doing the Veterans Assistance for this area. Every Friday Lee will be at the Pawhuska Community Center, 9 - 11a.m., Wynona 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and Hominy from 1 - 2 p.m. and any other towns that need assistance can come to one of these towns to meet with Lee. Remember that the VA Healthcare meets all the requirements for Obamacare, so anyone who does not have their VA Healthcare should come and talk to Lee. Lee wanted to remind everyone that he will also be at Cleveland at the City Hall from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. on Fridays, as well.
