WYNONA SCHOOL NOTES

Submitted by Superintendent Dixie Hurd

The 2013-2014 school year is in full swing! We welcome new teachers, Mr. John Pinkston, science teacher and coach, Mrs. Dora Anthony - 5th & 6th grade teacher, and Mrs. Angela Palkovich - 3rd & 4th grade teacher. We also welcome Ms. Emily Cartright as a para to help with P.E. and reading.

Our school is very quaint and unique. With the beauty of age comes a need for updating things like restrooms and flooring. We are asking our community to support a bond election on Sept. 10 to provide upgrades to our facilities; to update our computers; to update our security system; and to purchase a bus. We have one reliable bus and we are in need of another one to ensure safe travels for our students. Sometimes we have buses going in different directions and one bus is not enough to take care of our needs. The bond would only increase taxes by $6.73 per $100. We are asking for $105,000 Building Bonds and $75,000 Transportation Equipment Bond.

Please help us with a yes vote on Sept. 10!

Our new softball field is ready to go! Thanks again to Steven and Jen Holt and their girls for all their hard work on the ball field. They got donations from Jay and Shelby Hough, Dewey Pipe and Supply, David Butler, Jan Fields, Scott’s Tires, Hominy Veterinary Clinic, Sign Tech, and Tom Williams who donated the concrete. We appreciate everyone who has supported our school throughout the years.

We also would like to offer a great opportunity to advertise on Highway 99. We will get a sign made and install it for one year for $500. If you would like to advertise with us, please call 918-846-2467. Our first softball game is on Monday, August 19, at 4:30 p.m.. Please come support our girls!

Our first week of school has gone very well. Thank you parents and teachers for working so cooperatively to make our school year get off to a great start. We appreciate our community!
