Pawhuska man injured in single-car wreck

A Pawhuska man was lifeflighted to a Tulsa hospital Tuesday following an single-car injury accident in Osage County.

According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:19 p.m. Oct. 8 just outside Pawhuska on County Road 4070, about 2.8 miles west of County Road 2475.

At that time, a 2003 GMC Yukon driven by 32-year-old Joseph Edward Severns III, was eastbound on County Road 4070 “at a high rate of speed,” when Severns failed to negotiate a curve and began sliding. Severns’ vehicle then departed the roadway to the left, struck a ditch and rolled one half time before coming to a rest on its top.

Severns was then lifeflighted to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, where he was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal injuries.

OHP Troopers listed the cause of the accident as “unsafe speed for (the) type of roadway.”
