Burning grass from a control fire flares up along State Highway 99 north of town Friday, when Pawhuska was seemingly surrounded by control burns. After the area received a smattering of precipitation Sunday night, Osage County Commission members decided Monday to hold off on calling for a burn ban. Emergency Management Director Mike Pattison informed the commissioners that the conditions currently affecting the county do not meet the drought levels for requiring the ban.
