It will not be long until the magic adventure time arrives this winter 2014 when local 2nd-10th graders will audition for the chance to appear in the classic J.M Barrie tale of “Peter Pan.” The production will appear on the Bartlesville Community Center main stage July 17-20.
CMT is holding a variety of preparatory workshops to give local students an opportunity to develop their auditioning skills, whether this is their first audition or they’ve done this before. Students who are grades 2nd through 10th and ages 7-17 at the time of February auditions and live in an area within a 50-mile radius of Bartlesville are eligible.
Auditioning “Crash Course” Workshops will be held on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Bartlesville Community Center Studio Theatre.
The Beginning Audition workshop from 9:30-11:30 a.m. will be helpful for all who wish to audition, but especially those doing it for the first time. Tips on what to expect from the audition process, learn more about being a part of a production, trying to improve their selection possibilities, plus a chance to learn some music and choreography for Peter Pan will be included. The Beginning Workshop fee of $5 may be paid at the door on the day of the workshop.
The Advanced Audition Workshop from 1-3 p.m. is designed to help develop advanced audition and cold reading skills. This will help those who have auditioned previously and have made 1st round callbacks, but hope to advance farther into the callback process and “land the part” they were wishing for.
The Advanced Workshop fee is $20. Registration is required. Contact CMT office at 918-336-0558 or email@example.com to register. Class size is limited.
The actual auditions for “Peter Pan” will be Feb. 12-16 at Madison Middle School. Appointments for auditions may be made online at www.cmtonstage.com or by calling 918-336-0558.
The artistic staff for this production includes Director Michael Haber, Music Director Brittany Tanis, Choreographer DeLynn Fairless and Orchestra Conductor Marjoleine Gravley. This professional team will train and direct a cast of 60-80 talented students from the surrounding area for five intensive weeks of rehearsals and performances in June and July. There will be high-flying adventure as classic character Peter Pan takes the Darling family to Neverland where they will meet the Lost Boys, pirates and Tiger Lily’s Indian tribe and Captain Hook’s nemesis, the Crocodile. This musical is a delightful story based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale and it is sure to bring out the inner child in all of us.
The mission of Children’s Musical Theatre is “Enriching the lives of youth by providing quality musical theatre performance and educational opportunities.”
