A number of Pawhuska merchants are extending their shopping hours to coincide with this year’s Christmas Parade of Lights which is being sponsored by the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce. Themed “Christmas in the Osage,” the parade will kick off at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
Merchants hosting holiday open houses and extended hours include Sister’s Attic, Tallgrass Prairie Flowers & More, Spurs and Arrows, Premier Gun & Pawn, and Big Country Pawn & Supply. Mudpies will be open until 3 p.m. and Lowry’s will be open until 6 p.m.
According to Chamber Secretary, Reba Bueno, entry forms are still being accepted.
“We encourage churches, civic organizations, clubs, ranches, businesses and individuals to join in the fun,” said Bueno. “There are two categories – Profit and Non-Profit. Cash prizes will be awarded in the amount of $300 for 1st Place, $200 for 2nd Place, and $100 for 3rd Place. The Pawhuska Ag Boosters won 1st in last year’s Non-profit category. The Land Minis took 1st in the Profit Category.”
Honorary parade marshals will be Dorsey (Sonny) and Mary McCartney. The Journal-Capital will preview the event in next week’s paper with an in-depth interview about this beloved couple. Laura Glentzer is parade chairman.
Following the parade, the historic Constantine Theater will be showing the holiday classic “Scrooged,” starring Bill Murray and Carol Kane. Admission is free.
