Shidler hosts 11th annual car show August 23

Shidler — Their finishes, in various outstanding colors, glimmer in the August sunlight. Their shapes vary from smooth, rounded edges to angular, sharp lines. No matter the admirer’s eye for beauty, these charmers delight young and old.

These delights will be on display at Shidler’s 11th Annual One-Day Car Show on Aug. 23. For 10 years automobile enthusiasts from across the region have been coming to Shidler for its car show. Again this summer, the tranquil northeastern Oklahoma town invites everyone to the show to enjoy the colors, styles and yes, even what’s under the hood.

The event, sponsored by the Shidler Area Chamber of Commerce and the Osage County Tourism Committee, is held in Coussens Park on North Cosden Avenue. The park opens at 8:30 a.m. for registration, with the show running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Every year, Shidler Fire Department personnel and Ambulance Crew EMTs, all volunteers, work hard to provide delicious food for participants and visitors,” said JR Anderson, of the Shidler Area Chamber of Commerce. “Proceeds from their concession stand support the continuing quest for new equipment and accessories required for emergencies,” he added.

“Coussens Park is greener than ever thanks to the summer rains and cooler temperatures,” Anderson said. “It’s the perfect location for the gathering of friendly people, amazing cars and good food.”

Dash plaques are available for the first 150 entries, and awards are presented at 3:30 p.m. There will be door prizes, goody bags, 50/50 pot, and award plaques for numerous categories. Automotive related vendor space is available.

Pre-registration is $15. After August 18, it is $20. Registration forms are available online, www.shidleroklahoma.com. For more information, contact JR Anderson at 918.793.4961 or chamber@shidleroklahoma.com
