Season to Taste

What could be more easy than driving to town, locating a parking spot, walking into the supermarket, picking up a bottle of salad dressing, paying at the check-out counter, and then wagging it home to drizzle onto that spectacular salad you just made?

The answer……..make your own!

Do I ever purchase or use ready-made? You bet I do! But truth be told, I MUCH prefer homemade.

Sometimes I simply squeeze a fresh lime into an equal amount of oil, stir in a packet of Equal or something like it, toss in a little salt and pepper and call it good.

Other times, I go to a bit more trouble and prepare the following recipe. It is one of my go-to favorites!

Leave the Car Parked Salad Dressing

3 Tbsp. vegetable oil AND 3 Tbsp. olive oil

3 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar

1/2 tsp. to 1 tsp. of Dijon mustard

1 tsp. sugar (or to taste)

2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil

1 tsp. chopped fresh thyme

1/4 tsp. each of salt and pepper or to taste
