Pawhuska Elks Lodge #2542 hosted its 2nd annual Elks Day Saturday.

The event’s theme was “Another Man’s Treasurer” and featured breakfast, lunch, baked goods, a silent auction and car wash. Elk members donated assorted garage sale items with all proceeds to benefit Lodge projects. With Oklahoma’s unpredictable weather, area residents were able to rent a booth for their flea market items for only $10.

According to Lodge Manager Kim Moen, the event is an Elks’ benefit fundraiser. Monies raised help fund different Elks’ projects. “For example, this year we gave three $1,000 scholarships to Pawhuska High School students,” said Moen. “We’re working on soccer fields and have helped the wresting team.” Moen also explained Lodge #2542 opens up the hall, free of charge, for nonprofit school benefits, such as potato bakes.

“We are excited that our silent auction features a great array of items donated by 37 Pawhuska businesses,” Moen said.

Proceeds will be funneled back into community projects.
