BARTLESVILLE — The OK Mozart International Festival officially kicks off its 30th Anniversary season June 7-14 at Bartlesville Community Center with an Opening Night Celebration that’s free and open to the public.
First will be an indoor performance by the 145th Army Guard Concert Band. Outdoors, at Earl Sears Park, there will be more family entertainment with tasty food, face painting, prize giveaways and live music by the Corky Davis Country Swing Band. Afterward the celebration continues starting at 8 p.m. with the Austin Triple Bill Block Party at 2nd Street and Dewey Avenue, featuring the music of Joe Sundell, Love’s It! and Ramsay Midwood.
Concert highlights throughout the week will feature the newly formed OK Mozart All-State Youth Orchestra with the Amici New York orchestra; pianist Jon Kimura Parker; Grammy nominee singer-songwriter Sarah Jarosz, the Miró Quartet; a semi-staged version of Mozart’s opera “The Magic Flute”; and, as always, the Woolaroc Outdoor Concert on Friday night with Tchaikovky’s 1812 Overture accompanied by the sounds of cannons and fireworks.
For the Grand Finale the Bartlesville Choral Society will join forces with Amici New York orchestra in presenting Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.
