Shidler hosts 10th annual car show

SHIDLER — Automobile enthusiasts from across the region are invited to gather in the northeast Oklahoma town of Shidler on Aug. 24 for the 10th Annual One-Day Car Show.

The popular event, sponsored by the Shidler Area Chamber of Commerce and the Osage County Tourism Committee, is held in Coussens Park on North Cosden Avenue. The park opens at 8:30 a.m. for registration, with the show starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m.

“The Shidler Fire Department personnel and Ambulance Crew EMTs, all volunteers, work hard to provide enjoyable food for the participants and visitors alike. Their concession stand proceeds support their quest for new equipment and accessories required for emergencies,” said JR Anderson, of the Shidler Area Chamber of Commerce.

“Coussens Park has been easier to maintain this year due to all of the spring rains and moderate temperatures, together with additional rain we have experienced recently. Whoever could have imagined July rainstorms in Oklahoma?” Anderson said.

“With all of the friendly people and plenty of amazing cars, visitors can look forward to a fun-filled, relaxing day,” he added.

Dash plaques are available for the first 150 entries, and awards are presented at 3:30 p.m. There will be door prizes, goody bags, 50/50 pot, and award plaques for numerous categories. Automotive related vendor space is available.

Pre-registration is $15. After August 19, it is $20. Registration forms are available online, www.shidleroklahoma.com. For more information, contact Anderson at 918-793-4961 or chamber@shidleroklahoma.com.

The Shidler Area Chamber of Commerce is a member of the Osage County Tourism Committee which is a member of Green Country Marketing Association. GCMA works with state organizations to promote Oklahoma tourism.
